Extended/Optional warranty definitions for laptops (8/18/2007)

Extended Standard Warranty (EXT):
This dropdown allows the customer to extend the standard warranty.  The standard warranty guidelines can be found here http://www.btotech.com/store/warranty/builtonasuswarranty.htm  By extending the standard warranty you apply the sum of the total warranty to the extended options below thus the options below will remain active for the full duration of the standard and extended warranty coverage.  This has to be purchased at the time of checkout and cannot be applied at a later time.  This rule also applies to the options below.

Accidental Damage Protection (ADP):
This warranty will protect every part of your laptop from "acts of god" for the life of the standard or extended warranty.  A damage claim can be made once during the life of the laptop.  Scratches dings and scrapes do not qualify as physical damage.  Please allow up to 5 business days to repair a physically damaged laptop.  Ground transit will be prepaid for the customer round trip.  This warranty does not cover tempering or any damage caused by the user dismantling the product.  Internal damage caused by disassembly will not be covered.

Dead/Sub Pixel Guarantee (DPG):
This warranty will guarantee a dead pixel free screen for the duration of the extended and standard warranty.  Please allow up to 5 business days to repair a screen with a dead pixel.  Ground transit will be prepaid for the customer round trip.  This warranty does not cover tampering or any damage caused by the user dismantling the product.  Internal damage caused by disassembly will not be covered.

Overnight Clone Replacement (OCR):
This warranty will cover overnight transit back and forth to our service depot for repair and is guaranteed to have your laptop repaired within 24 hours of arrival, allowing up to a maximum of 3 business days for us to rectify any problem you may be having.  This policy can not be used to in conjunction with a damaged laptop, it only covers regular repair due to manufacturer defect.  This policy will remain active for the life of the standard or extended warranty.  This also covers data recovery and restoration.  Purchasing this policy also guarantees that any and all replacement parts mailed to the customer will be delivered within 24 hours.  User swappable parts such as ram, hard drives, optical drives, cpu's and wireless cards will be sent overnight within 24 hours.

Overnight Shipping Cover (OSC/SDC):
This can be used to cover the air transit costs where we only cover ground.  This does not apply to the delivery of your new laptop.  This only applies to your replacement.  This applies to laptop repairs, parts or any other shipment of parts for replacement purpose only.  We cover 2 way ground shipping for any parts under warranty as part of our standard warranty unless you choose an optional air coverage such as this.  If you live on the east coast this is not a great option for you.  Purchase this only if ground shipping takes more then 3 days to transit to you from N.Y.  We pay for 2 way ground by default as part of the standard warranty.  Purchasing this option will upgrade transit to overnight or 2day air for replacement parts or whole notebook repair only.  If you live in California for example this may be something worth while.

Limitations:
1. 100% loss:  Laptops which are damaged in such a manner where most of the parts are broken will not be covered under warranty.  An example of such a scenario would be a vehicle driving over your laptop, a fire, a flood, theft, or falling from a high enough altitude/speed causing all or most parts to fail.  Intentional damage by a person or animal will not be covered under warranty.  In the event that a customer should need accidental coverage for a damaged laptop, we may use refurbished & reconditioned parts.  If such parts are not available we may use new parts or replace the parts with a different brand/color of same or higher value.  Some likely situations which are covered by accidental warranty include: spill, fall, impact, surge, crack, neglect, improper use, and generally "acts of god" that leave most of the laptop intact while damaging one or few parts.  A damage claim where the lcd and the mainboard are broken will not be covered.  In such an event we will only replace one of the 2 under warranty.

Accidental Damage Protection (ADP):
This warranty will protect every part of your laptop except the LCD and battery from "acts of god" for the life of the standard or extended warranty.  This will cover any and all physical damage to your laptop and any device purchased with it including the optical drive, power supply but not the battery and lcd.  Includes water damage except the LCD.  This does apply to the LCD chassis including the hinges and housing but not the actual LCD.  A damage claim can be made once during the life of the laptop.  Scratches dings and scrapes do not qualify as physical damage.  Please allow up to 5 business days to repair a physically damaged laptop.  Ground transit will be prepaid for the customer round trip.  This warranty does not cover tempering or any damage caused by the user dismantling the product.  Internal damage caused by disassembly will not be covered.
